Spring is that time of the year when after a long winter, you’re ready to be healthy and in perfect shape. Since winters lack of a lot of sunshine, some people tend to stay inside more than they would want. It’s great the people are ready to go outside and get into action when the weather is warmer. But, you have to be careful! Here are 5 reasons why you should visit a chiropractor before the spring.

Family ready for a Spring Chiropractor Treatment

#1 To Get Ready For Sports Or An Upcoming Athletic Event

Did you know that 90% of all the world-famous athletes prefer to get chiropractic care to help prevent injuries?  Well, it is true. Regular chiropractic care can work wonders when it comes to improving athletic performance and preventing injuries.

Baseball season typically starts in the Spring, as does track and field, lacrosse, and tennis, not to mention the myriad of outdoor activities we here in Florida enjoy when it’s warm. These types of activities have lateral and bilateral movements in them that can cause severe pain in the back and other muscles.

Springtime is also when marathons, 5Ks, triathlons, and other sponsored group runs and events begin ramping up. If you or a young athlete that you know are planning to engage in any of the above activities, make sure to visit Mauricio Chiropractic. Make sure you’re ready for the Spring! We’re proud to provide the Orlando area with top-notch sports medicine and nutrition.

#2 Functional Movement Screen (FMS) / Selective Functional Movement Assessment

As you may already know, sitting for too long can lead to increased risk for injury. This goes as well for standing for too long. Being able to balance the amount of time you sit and stand at work is very important to avoid problems from work positions. Just like work, the movements we make in being active can lead to strain on muscles, ligaments, tendons, nerves, and joints.

The Functional Movement Screen is a system that is used to see if there are any weaknesses or asymmetries in fundamental movement patterns. These show where someone could develop an injury, when not able to realize the range needed in these screens. FMS is used for a lot of people but mainly for those who don’t have significant complaints.

The Selective Functional Movement Assessment is for those with a diagnosis.  This allows us to move past just knowing the cause of your symptoms but diagnose the source of your pain. It allows us to determine if it’s a stability problem or a mobility problem.

#3 Spring Break Travel Is Coming up!

If you have kids, springtime is the time to travel. Vacation is the time to relax and be well, not for pain or stress. Thankfully, both of them can be managed by having regular chiropractic adjustments!

Unfortunately, however, you’re bound to experience some level of discomfort while traveling. You can be traveling in a plane in a small space all cramped up, or you can sit in a car for hours. Moving luggage up and down subway and hotel stairs, etc., your vacation meant to relax can turn into a desperate need to get an adjustment.

There are stretches and exercises you can do to get rid of this feeling! We encourage our patients to do the exercises we show them in the consultation. You won’t need any type of equipment to perform these while traveling, and you will feel so much better traveling knowing you’ll be pain-free.

#4 If You’re Trying to Recover From an Injury

As we’ve mentions before, spring is a time of physical activity. If you’ve been recovering from an injury over the winter and you’re worried about being fit and ready for the spring, you should pay us a visit. At Mauricio Chiropractic, we specialize in Active Release Techniques, which is a combination of movement and massage used to break down scar tissue while increasing functional muscle length.

Do you know those pesky knots that you get when you don’t stretch enough? That’s the result of dense scar tissue within the muscle that is produced when your body attempts to heal. Said tissue can stop the mobility of your muscles, making them eventually weaker. This tension can lead to a serious injury if you’re not careful, so take care of yourself.

We also specialize in functional rehabilitation and corrective exercises, which involve performing controlled movements in an area of dysfunction in order to improve strength, mobility, and coordination.

#5 You Suffer From Spring Allergies

As we enjoy more time outside, a great number of people also suffer from allergies. You might not know this, but chiropractic care can indirectly help relieve allergy symptoms. When you improve the health of the spine, you also improve the health of the central nervous system. By keeping the immune system healthy and strong, you may find yourself more resistant to allergy symptoms.
